What IP Lookup does
IP Lookup shows the public IP address your browser connects from and lets you look up other IP addresses and domain names. To do that, our serverless functions (hosted on Vercel) receive your IP address as part of every web request, exactly like any website does.
What we do not store
- We do not log, store or sell the IP addresses or domains you look up, nor your own IP address. They are processed in memory only for the duration of the request.
- A short-lived in-memory counter keyed by your IP is used to limit abuse (60 requests per minute). It is discarded automatically and never written to disk.
- Your recent lookups, batch input and theme preference are saved in your browser's localStorage, on your device only. You can clear the history at any time with the "Clear history" button or by clearing site data.
- Browser and operating-system information shown on the page is computed locally in your browser and never sent to us.
Third parties contacted for a lookup
- DNS resolvers for reverse DNS, domain resolution and DNS blocklist checks.
- rdap.org and the regional Internet registries (ARIN, RIPE NCC, APNIC, LACNIC, AFRINIC) to fetch public network registration data for the address you look up.
- The Tor Project and abuse.ch to download their public lists (not per lookup; lists are cached).
- For Pro features, your license key is checked with our payments service (bm-payments.vercel.app). The key is never shared with other parties.
Hosting provider Vercel may keep standard request logs (including IP addresses) for security and operations under its own privacy policy.
Accuracy and ethics
Geolocation is approximate (city or region) and describes where a network is registered or routed. It never identifies a person or a street address. Only an Internet provider can link an IP address to a subscriber, normally under a court order. Please do not use this tool to harass, track or identify individuals.
Data sources and attribution
- IP geolocation by DB-IP, licensed under CC BY 4.0.
- ASN data: RouteViews / DB-IP via ip-location-db, CC BY 4.0.
- Tor exit list: The Tor Project. Botnet C2 list: abuse.ch Feodo Tracker (CC0). DNS blocklists: SpamCop, PSBL.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
If analytics (Google Analytics) or advertising (Google AdSense) are enabled, those services may set cookies and process data such as your IP address and device information to measure usage and show ads, including personalised ads where permitted. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings. Learn how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Payments
Pro purchases are processed by Mercado Pago. We never see your card details. We receive a payment ID to issue and validate your license key.
